Honesty with your Clients

I think clients should always challenge why we do certain exercises & ask what's the benefit? We as teachers should know what we are doing to their bodies. In my opinion, I felt I had used every part of the knowledge I was taught on my GCSE and A-Level dance courses in the environment of the BRIT School. From the historical and theoretical meaning of dance to the anatomy and physiology to prevent injury, and basic assessment of minor strains and pulled muscles. In all the years I have taught, I have never had a client injure themselves in class from age 4.5 to 55-year-olds. I take the human body's muscle and bone structure very seriously. I feel that if you can't demonstrate what you expect your clients to achieve without hurting yourself, you shouldn't teach it.

It is so important to be honest with your clients. Don't make promises you can't keep!
